The American Farm Bureau Federation will offer a paid internship in Communications this summer in its Washington, D.C., office. The actual dates of summer internships are between late-May and mid-August, depending on schedules. It is preferred that interns start their internship no later than June 10. The internship will last for 8-10 weeks, ending no later than Aug. 19. Interns are supervised by an intern coordinator in their assigned department. Interns are responsible for their own housing.

Preference is given to students completing their junior year with a major in communications, journalism or a related field, but other students are considered. Strong writing skills are required. Experience and aptitude in exploring business applications of social media (Web 2.0) is a plus. Interns assist Communications staff in their work on website content – including news articles, news releases and statements – as well as media relations, public relations campaigns and events. The skill level of the internship is ideal for undergraduate students.

How to Apply:
Please send cover letter, resume, transcript, two letters of recommendation and up to three writing or broadcast samples by mail or email to the contact below.

Be sure to identify the internship to which you are applying in your cover letter. Applicants should specify their areas of interest and how their background provides them the proper knowledge and abilities to excel in this internship.
