And right now, we need to fill a full-time Public
Relations Specialist in our Kansas City office.
The Public Relations Specialist is responsible for leading
the Public Relations efforts of one of AdFarm's leading crop production
industry clients as well as working together with the AdFarm Public Relations
Team on other initiatives. The Public Relations Specialist will work within
a multidisciplinary team of agency professionals sharing a goal of successfully
achieving client satisfaction, business unit profitability, team functionality
and performance.
To become an AdFarmer, the candidate will have:
- Public Relations experience with 3-7 years in media relations, event management,
and strategic planning.
- Proven track record of excellence and experience in agricultural marketing
communications and/or print/broadcast agricultural communications.
- Proven as an effective project manager -- preferably in an agency.
- A college diploma or University degree in public relations, communications
or a related field.
- A deep understanding of the agricultural media (print, broadcast, industry
events/tradeshows, interactive, internet etc) and marketing needs of the
agricultural industry.
- Strong news and commercial writing skills; with excellent attention to
detail.
- An inquisitive mind, ability to take direction, good interpersonal and
communication skills.
The ideal AdFarmer will have the ability to be highly organized
and self motivated, excellent time-management skills and the ability to
multi-task. And last but not least, we need someone who works and plays
well with others, with an ability and desire to work within a team and contribute
towards one.

Head, Department of Agricultural Communications
The Department Head provides strategic leadership to market
Purdue Agriculture programs and resources, develop and deliver innovative
educational products, and manage stakeholder and public relations through
timely and effective communications strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a marketing and communications plan to
help achieve the goals set out in Purdue Agriculture's Strategic Plan.
- Implement and assess innovative communication strategies that enhance
Purdue Agriculture's engagement with existing and new constituents.
- Plan, resource and deploy science-based information, educational products
and services to meet the needs of internal and external audiences.
- Continue to build Purdue Agriculture's reputation and brand as a highly
relevant and responsive research and educational institution.
- Inform and guide Purdue Agriculture administration, faculty and staff
to anticipate and respond effectively to public issues.
- Partner with communication leaders in Purdue's Office of Media and Marketing
as well as those off campus to enhance collaboration and the flow of information
important to the public.
- Lead a nationally-recognized communications team and sustain a quality
work environment conducive to a vibrant and productive department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing or related field plus demonstrated
leadership, experience and accomplishment in communications, sales, marketing
and/or media relations; advanced degree would be considered a plus. Background
or degree in an agriculture-related field desirable but not required.
- Appreciation for the mission and diverse interests of Purdue Agriculture
and support of the philosophy of the land grant university.
- Ability to articulate a vision for the department that is aligned with
the strategic direction of the College and the university.
- Successful experience in administration: employee supervision, communications
management/production, program development, planning and managing fiscal
resources.
- Ability to relate positively with supervisors, peers, subordinates, representatives
of various stakeholders and the public.
- Superb written and oral communications skills.
